Valerie Taylor Dive Centre: Private and Public spaces
Private and public spaces for Valerie Taylor AM, Australian conservationist, photographer and filmmaker, and inaugural member of the diving hall-of-fame.
Private Space //
Dive Preparation Shack - This space is designed for Valerie Taylor to get prepared for a dive as she moves through the space towards the water. The design takes inspiration from a shark cage with its cramped design, narrow windows and cage like walls built from reclaimed jetty wood.
Public Space //
Gallery - This space is designed to feed people through a tight passage with openings in the walls which enlarge as one looks through to show Valerie’s Work. This emulates the feeling of diving transforming from claustrophobic to open and free. The overall design is meant to represent an underwater camera hence the circular shape.
